Slough Aikikai belongs to the Myo Shin Juku House of Aikido, which is part of the United Kingdom Aikikai, or UKA. The UKA is affiliated with the International Headquarters of Aikido, at Hombu Dojo in Tokyo, Japan.
Slough's chief instructor is Sensei Paul Shepherd who holds the grade of Yondan (4th Dan) and is a member of the Fuku Shidoin for the UKA. There are currently around 20 members, approximately a quarter of whom are graded Shodan (1st Dan) or higher. The club atmosphere is very friendly and all new members are welcomed with equal enthusiasm regardless of ability.
Anyone wishing to check out the club is encouraged to join us on the mat - if you do not currently own a suitable gi, then tracksuit bottoms will be fine - along with a long sleeved top. Please keep hair gel or wax to a minimum, for reasons that will become apparent! Additionally, please ensure that your finger and toe nails are cut short to prevent injury to others and yourself.
The dojo is a dedicated site so there is no time spent placing or clearing away mats during classes.
See here for directions to the club, or feel free to send us an email!
